It seems everyone is a professional these days.
We refer to professional footballers, professional wine-makers, professional journalists, we even refer to management as a profession! Well they are not!
We have made the term synonymous with salaried, or occupation or career. But what is a profession and what does it mean to really be a professional?
In this webinar we will adopt a somewhat lighter approach to the discussion of professions examining the origins of the concept in the Middle Ages through guilds and other associations, through to the modern interpretation of a true profession to today’s usage of the term which refers to almost any occupation.
Importantly it will note that whilst management can never be a true profession, it does not preclude managers and leaders from adopting behavioural standards that demonstrate a high degree of expertise and integrity.
Join CQUniversity’s MBA Director, Michael Segon as he discusses what defines a professional in the modern day and the standards which should be demonstrated.
