Wednesday 5 October 2016
2pm to 5pm with networking to 6pm
Griffith University Building N68, Nathan Campus
See how green building design and construction has progressed with a tour of Griffith University’s EcoCentre opened in 2000 and the Sir Samuel Griffith Building officially opened in 2014.
Sir Samuel Griffith Building is a working model of a building that could operate off the grid, achieved a 6 star Green Star rating and is powered by solar PV and hydrogen fuel cells. The function will involve a tour of the building including the famous high - tech Red Zone.
Griffith University’s EcoCentre, built in 2000 as one of Australia’s pioneering green buildings and a Banksia Finalist in its year of opening, keeps striving to improve environmental performance, testing new products and models and maintaining strong partnerships with industry, academia and government.
A workshop discussion on design, technology and partnerships for buildings will follow tours of these two exceptional buildings along with informal refreshments and networking afterwards.
